Process Equipment & Piping Systems: Application, Design, Operation, Failure Prevention & Repairs
Understand piping classes, materials, supports and flexibility requirements, then the damage mechanisms that dominate refinery and gas plant piping. Participants apply risk-based inspection thinking to prioritise effort, and evaluate repairs from clamps and sleeves to weld overlay and replacement.
Tank Farm Operations and Performance
Understand tank types, roof designs, venting and blanketing, then operate receipts, transfers and blending accurately. Participants cover custody transfer measurement, gauging and loss control, tank cleaning and sludge management, and the fire protection requirements for tank farms.
Amine Treating and Sulfur Recovery Technology
Select and operate amine systems — MEA, DEA, MDEA and formulated solvents — for a given treating duty. Participants learn to run absorbers and regenerators at optimum circulation, control foaming, corrosion and heat stable salts, and troubleshoot off-specification gas and low sulphur recovery.
Boiler Operation, Maintenance & Safety
Operate boiler plant safely across the full range of normal and abnormal conditions. Participants learn burner management systems, purge logic and flame safeguards, how to respond to low water level, flame failure and tube leaks, and the statutory inspection and safety valve requirements.
Oil Movement, Storage and Troubleshooting in Modern Refineries, Marine Terminals and Oil Plants
Plan and execute product movements between units, tankage and export facilities. Participants learn safe marine loading and ship-shore practice, blending strategy and quality control, and how to troubleshoot line contamination, pump problems, metering discrepancies and interface losses.
Refinery Critical Equipment Operation for Compressors, Turbines and Pumps
Identify which machines are critical to production and why they warrant special attention. Participants operate centrifugal and reciprocating compressors within their performance envelope, understand turbine governing and protection systems, and apply anti-surge and minimum flow protection.
Operations and Troubleshooting of Distillation Columns, Absorbers, Regeneration, Separators and Desalters
Understand column internals and their hydraulic limits, then diagnose flooding, weeping and entrainment from field symptoms. Participants learn to run absorbers and regeneration at the right circulation, resolve separator carry-over and emulsion, and optimise desalters to protect downstream units.
Troubleshooting Process Operations
Replace trial and error with a systematic troubleshooting method. Participants use mass and energy balances to locate where a process is deviating, read trends, laboratory data and field observation together, separate instrument error from genuine process change, and document fixes so they hold.
Fired Heaters, Air Coolers, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Compressors, Pressure Vessels & Valves
Understand the function, construction and operating limits of each major equipment family. Participants learn to run fired heaters with correct draft, excess air and tube skin temperature, time exchanger and air cooler cleaning against fouling, and select and maintain valves including relief devices.
Flare, Blowdown & Pressure Relief Systems
Understand relief scenarios, sizing basis and the codes governing relief design, then follow the path from relief device through headers and knockout drum to the flare tip. Participants learn to operate blowdown during upsets, maintain flare seal and ignition reliability, and assess load and emissions.
Gas Sweetening & Sulphur Recovery
Understand acid gas removal options and how solvent choice affects selectivity. Participants learn to meet H2S and CO2 specifications reliably, follow acid gas through the Claus train and tail gas clean-up, and troubleshoot solvent quality, foaming and burner air demand problems.
Rotating Equipment: Pumps, Turbines & Compressors Technology: Design, Selection, Operation, Control, Inspection, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Select machine type and configuration from process duty, head, flow and fluid properties. Participants interpret performance curves against system resistance, weigh seal, bearing, lubrication and control design choices, and apply condition monitoring and inspection practice.
