  • Describe the steam methane reforming route from feed pre-treatment through to purified hydrogen product.
  • Understand reformer furnace design, catalyst tubes, shift converters and PSA purification.
  • Control steam to carbon ratio, reformer outlet temperature and pressure for stable hydrogen yield.
  • Identify carbon laydown, tube overheating and catalyst poisoning and take preventive action.
  • Apply the safety requirements specific to high temperature hydrogen service.
