Understand how corporate planning works across the wider energy sector: strategic planning, performance management, business development and capital projects. Participants learn the methodologies and documents behind strategic initiatives, annual business plans and long-term plans, and who is accountable at each stage.

Foundations of K Group Corporate Planning
  • Overall understanding of the main mega-processes, methodologies, and tools of corporate planning within the wider energy sector: Strategic planning, performance management, business development and capital projects.
  • Module 1: Introduction to Strategic Planning.
  • Understand what strategy means and how to think strategically.
  • Define the wider energy sector's strategic plans and strategic initiatives; understand their applicability in each of the wider energy sector's companies including stakeholders and their responsibilities.
  • Describe the concepts, methodologies and documents used for the development of company strategic initiatives, annual business plans and long term plans.
  • Use business planning guidelines and processes to align company objectives to the overall vision of the wider energy sector/ the organisation.
  • Utilize the Balance Scorecard methodology/ performance evaluation approaches to understand the wider energy sector's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/ Key Performance Measures (KPMs) and their alignment to business plans.
  • Module 2: Introduction to Capital Projects.
  • Define the wider energy sector/ Subsidiaries capital programs and projects and describe the program objectives, scope, resourcing requirements, stakeholders roles/responsibilities, performance indicators, contracts & policies, limitations and administrative activities.
  • Understand the projects financial concepts, formulas and calculations used for project identification, project evaluation as well as developing projects and program budgets within the wider energy sector.
  • Describe the methodology and process used for program budgeting systems and their linkages to various project budgets/ expenditure allocation.
  • Describe the project monitoring and evaluation dashboard.
  • Define the various elements of project evaluation and progress reporting.
  • Identify and complete the required documents and templates used during the project cycle.
  • Module 3: Introduction to the wider energy sector's Performance Management.
  • Define the performance cycle and process used across and the wider energy sector and its subsidiaries.
  • Define the performance evaluation and monitoring tools used to measures performance, parameters and/ or indicator (such as KPIs/ KPMs).
  • Apply Corporate Planning performance framework (tools and techniques) in drafting reports and documents.
  • Module 4: Introduction to Business Development.
  • Understand the business development process and research methodology used for internal and external environmental scanning/ analysis, customer analysis and product/ service competitive analysis.
  • Understand the applicability and contribution of situational and market trends analysis to the business development process.
  • Describe the concepts, guidelines and techniques used for product/ service positioning within a competitive advantage based on market and competitor analysis outcomes.
  • Define the pricing policies and protocols followed within the wider energy sector for the various products/ services.
  • Understand the guidelines followed by the wider energy sector and the Kuwaiti government entities for the development of pricing policies.
